Hi All , I picked up a Montgomery Wards Sea King 6 hp to work on this winter. I am having a hard time finding any Identifying numbers on it anywhere. I know that it is of the Mercury / Force/ US Marine variety. Marine Engine has some listings that look like it but I sure would like to have some kind of model number to work off of. Anyone familiar with this kind of outboard? Thanks , Matt.IMG_5351

That motor is a Chrysler built engine.  Check out Ben Dittmar’s videos on Youtube.  Ben has several service advice videos on engines just like yours.

Ben is the SIG Leader for Chrysler (West Bend) outboards.

Check INSIDE the cowling for an ID plate.  Sometimes over by the tiller linkages  (Port side)  and sometimes at the back on the Starboard side  INSIDE the cowling.  Usually so dirty and grimy that they are barely visible.

I found my ID tag location in the pan , starboard side. However, The tag is missing. I did some checking on Marine Engine and I’m going with the 1976  Chrysler 6HP. Looks like mine.  Thanks everyone!!!!
