Greetings,
As you can see from the title, I am working on a 1954 Firestone 5hp, made by Scott-Atwater. I have determined that I have spark and compression, now on to the cooling system.
I found a recent article about using a Honda impeller, and have everything apart. I wonder if anyone has a part number for the rubber grommets that go on each end of the copper water tube, or a reasonable replacement.
Also, If anyone has a parts list/diagram for this era motor, it would be great.
Dave

November 7, 2024 at 10:06 am #291959Hi Dave, if no one comes up with a better idea for the tube grommets… a workable substitute can sometimes be made from a short piece of rubber fuel hose. Fit the hose piece on a dowel, spin it in your drill and sand / file/ grind a groove to fit.

November 9, 2024 at 11:38 am #292015So I have a new question. In the gear case there is a pin that goes through the drive shaft above the gears. It looks like it goes through a steel bushing/spacer thingy.
my issue is that my “thingy” is in two pieces and I think it should be whole.David Bartlett
