looking for info  on this small 4hp  with what seems to be extra lower section  likely a sailboat version .

looked the Merc site  but found nothing around 269765 serial #s …

It was purchased  a few  years ago by myself  so it must  a CANADA version unless someone brought  in from USA ?

it looks like the one in  picture but I think my  4hp  lower  section is even longer..

on mine where that arrow points  it is missing the rounded front end of the splash plate but i’ll just rebuild it like I did on my 75hp skeg with epoxy.

The $10 epoxy repair (no welding) held up very well this smmer and painted  with  ETEC blue  it is hard to see.  Certainly more pleasing to the  eye compared to a chipped skeg !

If the decals are correct it is most likely 72 long shaft.

Hmmmm…..according to MaxRules and the serial number…it is a 1969.  But;  as Dave says….the cowlings with the blue stripe are newer than that.  Could someone have swapped the cowlings?

The link I posted (a couple of posts up)  at Marine Engine still fits your revised serial number – I just looked a the first 3 digits and didn’t notice another digit was missing, or how many there were – I goofed, but it still turned out correct serial number range for your corrected serial number.

this 4h p locks down all the time whereas normall one can run with  the LU in release mode in case of striking something

the lever releases the lock down for tilt up and shallow running  if I flip up the shallow running bracket ..

is this normal for this type of XL 25incher run  locked all the time ?

is this typical  for this  XL  ” sailboat” version

Anybody have a  user manual I could download

                        thanks
