I’m going to look at this boat again after work tonight. Its is pretty close to me and I took a quick look at it last night. I talked to the guy today and it comes with a trolling motor of unknown specifications, a set of oars, and an 18hp outboard also of unknown to me at this time make and vintage. The guys is asking $600 for the whole works and seems pretty firm on the price. I do not ‘need’ this boat but I have been looking for a decent Alumacraft for a good price. I’m not sure what model this is but my guess is an FD with the front deck. I don’t see too many of these around with the deck and I kind of like the fact that it is a little different. It will need new wood in the transom as it is getting fairly rotten but it is still serviceable. It has the Aqueduct transom which I also like. What do you guys think? Does this seems like a decent deal to you?

June 13, 2016 at 8:40 pm #38208I’m wondering why you haven’t bought it yet.
June 13, 2016 at 8:42 pm #38209If that was anywhere near me I would already have it!
My grandfather had one with a 1957 Fastwin. It is the Holy Grail of boats for me. I have the motor now I just need to find the boat.
Do not delay!
June 13, 2016 at 9:58 pm #38215OK, I picked it up fellas. I still don’t know year or model for sure. MI registration doesn’t say, but hey, it’s still current for another year. The trolling motor is a Minn Kota basic transom mount 30 lb thrust. The oars could use paint but are decent, small landing net, floating fish basket. The motor I have not taken the hood off of yet, but… it’s a 1959 Evinrude Fastwin Golden Jubilee with a pressure tank. 😎 After dinner I’ll get a better look at everything. The motor has been sitting in his garage for about 8 years. As long as the mice haven’t gotten to it too bad it should be good with a basic tune up. I’m pretty geeked about the motor too.

June 13, 2016 at 10:58 pm #38220And the trailer? Sounds like a good deal to me.
June 13, 2016 at 11:24 pm #38223Ben,
Great score! Those 59 Fastwin motors are great.
June 14, 2016 at 1:16 am #38230Yup, I got the boat, trailer (needs tires), trolling motor (stripped swivel tension screw buy otherwise fine), oars (need paint or varnish), small fish net, floating fish basket, 1 year left on the current registration, 6 gallon pressure tank which is pretty clean inside but will need a rebuild and new dual line, and the ’59 Fastwin. 😉
Boat needs a bit of tlc but it is usable as is. I’ll probably just drop it in my pond for a little test run but it will get some work as I get to it. I have 2 other boats so it isn’t a huge rush.
I think the motor is going to be a peach. I’m really happy with what I’m seeing. It’s got some stories to tell but overall a pretty nice original. Nice and clean under the hood, coils have been replaced with newer OMC coils. It’s only got spark on the bottom cylinder now, but a tune up will fix that. I’ll go through the fuel and ignition on the old girl, replace the impeller and change oil in the gearcase and I bet she’ll be ready for the lake. I will probably go through this one when I get my ’54 Super Fastwin put back together. I hope to give that one a test run again this weekend. Maybe both of them if I get the time. I’ll post a few pics shortly.

June 14, 2016 at 1:30 am #38232June 14, 2016 at 1:40 am #38234You might know this already, but just in case. If you take the # off the knee brace and email alumacraft, they will tell you exactly what year and specs on your boat.
June 14, 2016 at 1:42 am #38236The Fastwin has 115 psi on the top cyl and 110 psi on the bottom. It pulls over smoothly and the throttle control works perfectly. It needs cleaning and tuning up but should be an excellent runner. Is there anything special I should know about the ’59 Fastwin before I go through the tune up work? I have a ’62 Sea King 15 I still can’t get to act right.
