      Could someone please provide a diagram or closup photo,of the inside of a timer used on the above.
      I recently started my 1922 Elto Light Twin, after it lying idle for over 40 years and it ran beautifully, but my problem is that the stop button isn’t working and to stop it, I had to pull the plug out of the timer. On taking the cover off the timer I could see that there was something missing, as the spring bar, when pushed by the stop button, is not connecting or disconnecting anything. I suspect that there was originally something fixed to the back of the socket inside the timer, which would create a break the circuit when the button was pushed. I would like to set it up as original if possible. I have a parts list,but unfortunately it doesn’t provide enough detail.

      Any help would be much appreciated

        Your understanding that the button should break the
        connection of the two bars to stop the motor is correct.
        The two wires must be joined together in some way
        as the motor keeps running.
        If the 90 degree brass bar is what’s missing it
        shouldn’t take much to make one. You could make
        a insulator too if its gone.

          Thanks for your reply Tub’s. Unfortunately my motor has a different timer. My one has a hole through a tube section in the front centre where the wires plug in, whereas yours has a short stubby handle part sticking out. If you happen to have a Elto Service Manual for models A and B you will see the type I have on page 49, Part no.200 , Case with stop button and Part no.299, Timer complete. On that page it mentions those parts as being ‘Miscellaneous Parts for Models other than A and B’.

            You can wire it as in my first picture
            to make the kill switch work.
            This timer the wires were run through a hole in the
            bottom of the timer case and a brass plug was used
            to fill the hole. You could still wire it through the
            front if you want.

            I think that you could get this plug from an Elto dealer.
            I’ve seen several done like this. Maybe it came with the
            insulator too. Guessing here.

              Thanks very much once again Tubs for your reply. I think I will try and keep the wires coming through the front and fabricate a suitable switch. The bronze spring bar is still there fortunately.
