Hello oh wise and wonderful club members… ok enough sucking up!… I need help….again…. Got two new ticks attached to me. They are twins. They are both Viking model 5D10V with serial number 0000246 and serial number 0000529. Can I assume from the low serial numbers that they are on the low end of the 1951-1954 range for this motor. Is there any way to verify the actual year of manufacture? I like to be accurate when I get these runnng for display. I will get pics when I get back from breakfast. The ole ball and chain is nattering at me…..er I mean my love of my life the apple of my eye …..ok she is gone..The anchor to my boat wants to go for breaky NOW!!!! LOL I love her to death.

Thank You Steve. I had already visited Richards site to get the year of the motors. That is where I found out it was a range of years. Here here are the pics of the ticks. Up to 13 ticks now with three more on the way. Damn critters attach themselves to almost every where I go anymore….. ya gotta love it!!! The twin tick has a few abnormal genes…. it is missing a few parts. When I am done it will be the six million dollar tick…..ok a slightly more valuable than a new hacksaw blade tick?LOL

They are both 1951 Model Vikings, but are not listed in my US Gale Parts Book. . . 🙄

With the exception of Wards, some of those retail stores might have a warehouse full of motors and not rotate their stock. So in the absence of a specific identifier, one sold as a 1954 might have been built in 1952. Obviously yours were built early on. Wards identifies theirs with two numbers followed by GG. Reverse the numbers for the year. 45GG reversed becomes 54GG—1954.

Thanks Frank These were sold through Eatons stores in Canada. That is why I am having trouble finding any info on them other than information provided by you and Richard. If you look at the pics closely you will see the Eatons word just ahead of viking on the cowel decal. Now the next big question does anyone have an extra gas cap assembly for one of these motors?
