Is there a list of serial numbers by year for the early Thor outboards? I found one today that is #5327. It has the earlier style lower unit. From what I understand, it would be 1935-37.

There’s a list for the Thor built Montgomery-Wards Sea Kings on page 258 of The Old Outboard Book, third edition. In case you don’t have a copy, here it is. The ‘W’ designates a Ward’s motor.

        Thor/Sea King

        1936 W1-W2580
        1937 W3000-W6302
        1938 W7000-W9000
        1939 W9001-W11000

          I have 3 Thors.
          WK-9501
          T-7194
          T-7347
Can we use the same chart to determine the year even though the chart has a "W"?
          Thanks. Alan

I will look at mine again, but I don’t think it has a W before the number. Did only the motors that were sent to Wards get the W?

                        So,

Was it the 1939 models that Karl took over, repaired and sent to Wards?

                        M.
