Looking for the correct condenser / capacitor for my 1936
Neptune twin with the Eisemann Model 72 Magneto.
I thought I read somewhere where a .14 mfd condenser
is correct, but I see guys selling generic condensers
rated at .22 mfd, stating that they are correct.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has been using
the electronic "caps" and fitting them in the old can
with success. I know there was quite a discussion on
the old board, and saved some of the notes.
This note, references a cap rated at .15 uf, and
says it will fit in the old condenser can.
Anyone been using this cap, and what’s your
results? Thanks, TG

Read below for a factory rep recommendation, Will fit inside an
old cap can too!

March 12, 2015 at 1:14 am #11857My Mercotronic manual states that of the 6 Eisemann condensers listed:
H-22-910
H23-470
H24-235
H24-924
H26-982
H28-090 ALL ARE .17-.22 mfd…your 72 MODEL MAG EITHER 72A, B, C, (D, DA &F) all coils when checking with said MercOtronic, should have continuous spark at of below 2.0 amps Secondary Continuity is between 40-60 min/maxSo any cap between .15 and .22 will work spot on..
Hope this helps

Richard

Looks like my usual Briggs & Stratton condenser
would work. I would like to play around with
those caps someday and put one in a vintage
condenser can for fun.

March 12, 2015 at 10:04 pm #11894Garry, glad to see you still have all your data!
I’ll check out the Echlin RR176….. probably easier
to find than the B&S condensers I was using.

March 13, 2015 at 6:54 am #11902Hey Bucc, depending on how much room you have under your flywheel, try the Orange Drop or Vishay caps at the proper uF rating. They work.
March 13, 2015 at 11:37 am #11903Mumbles, guess I should buy an assortment of caps and
start trying them. How do you mount your caps so they
don’t move around, or vibrate, or is that not a problem?Prepare to be boarded!
