I pulled out my 1924 ELTO Model C today to begin the restoration. The steering bracket and water tubes were missing when I bought it. The PO gave me two other steering brackets, but I just discovered that neither of them fit. Would anyone have a photo of the correct bracket so I know what I’m looking for. Thanks.
Here is what I have. It’s not quite tall enough. Unless it’s not supposed to fit into the notch on top of the rudder.

I believe your assembly is from an earlier
model. Might be able to just change the mount
on your motor to that assembly.
Someone that is more knowledgeable
in the ruddertwins will likely respond shortly.A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
January 1, 2017 at 11:59 pm #50118Thanks, Tubs. The two brackets I have are identical. They won’t fit on the mount that’s on my Ruddertwin. They are about 1/2" or so shorter between the mounting points than the original must have been.

January 2, 2017 at 12:04 am #50119You know. I already have two of these brackets. I wonder if I can modify one of them to fit. I’ll see what I can do with it. Worst case scenario I’ll sandcast a new one in the backyard foundry.

January 2, 2017 at 1:26 am #50122I have 2 J models ill send you pictures of. Both are 7" from bottom flange to bottom flange. I thought I would have a spare for you but my parts motor had a broken bracket.

I thought I would have a spare for you but my parts motor had a broken bracket.Mine is 7 1/2". It looks like the two brackets I have are from a model J. I have a plan. I’ll trade you a good bracket for your broken one. I’m going to cut and weld them together to make up the 1/2". No use destroying a good one if I don’t have to. I’ll text you tomorrow.
I was able to extend the water tube by heating the solder and pulling the tube down. I found a 4" crack in the tube, which I soldered closed. I think this is going to work out fine. Everything on this old girl needs serious attention. Makes me feel like an old time mechanic.

January 2, 2017 at 6:25 am #50133I couldn’t help notice the 824 on Tubs’ bracket. wbeaton if your’s has that number it may fit my model A. Mine has a broken steering arm and my son is trying to weld on a new one but 94 years of dirt may be a problem. Please keep me in mind if you don’t use that part. Thanks, Slim
January 2, 2017 at 2:16 pm #50146I just looked at the parts manuals for the models C, D, J and K. The tiller yoke (what I called the bracket) is part number 852 for the model C and 852-7 for the model J. I don’t have a parts catalogue for a model A or B. The yokes I have are both marked 824-6, which suggests to me that they would be for a Model B. Tub’s, would you please measure your tiller yoke?
You can see that mine clearly doesn’t fit.
My tiller yokes have the same mounting base as the Model J and I know these brackets fit a Model J based on the photos and measurements Chris P sent me. Weird.

January 2, 2017 at 2:30 pm #50149I took a closer look at Tub’s photos and it seems that the tiller yoke bracket (the small part on the midesection where the tiller yoke connects to the midesection) is slightly different than mine.

The top of yours is higher
(closer to the top 2 mounting screws)
and longer than the one I have.
Maybe a little trading can
get you the one you need.
Looks to be at least 3 mounting
brackets for these.A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
