The oldest a 6039 Speeditwin could be is 1939. It was the first Speeditwin with a one piece cast muffler. The Speeditwins of 1936, ’37’ & ’38 were Eltos. The Speeditwin tank held two and a half gallons, the Speedifour/Big Four held four. So although the tank decal would fit a Speedifour, it is still incorrect. All the decals I have seen have the name of the motor on the side . . . 🙄

Not sure yet what model Evinrude my decal was for, but I noticed today
that on both ends of the tank, under where it says Evinrude, and most
like showed the "model", it’s painted over.
Tried lacquer thinner and acetone, and it didn’t touch the paint.

The timer is just on ny friction, with a screw for tension. Like the mag plates are. I’ll try to get some better lighting and take a few more pics, might take a few days though. The flywheel had the cam cast in and a small connecting rod activates the points inside the timer box. Works the same as a ruddertiwn if you’ve ever seen one in action.

Squier, I just got the magneto off, and didn’t see any cam lobe on
the crankshaft, so what you say makes sense!
Having a cam would add a challenge to making a flywheel for sure.

Did you take any photos of the bottom side of your flywheel,
and the inner workings of your timer when you had it apart?
I hope to have a good idea of what they look like before
Tomahawk, in case one magically appears there,
or a flea market!

Squier, I watched a Peter Hunn video on the Elto Speedsters a while ago, and he
showed the bottom side of the flywheel, how the link went on, and the timer
guts, so I get the general idea. Starting to take the old girl apart, so
watch for more questions, lol.
