I got a Johnson 300 in good shape and am having problems getting it to run right. It will start fine in start position with both high and low jets about 1/2 turn out. It sounds ( to me ) like it is running rich but I cannot move throttle or needle settings very much or the engine dies. Also the more I try to run it the shorter it will run. The pump works fine and I have had the carb apart 3 times to clean and cannot find anything obviously wrong. Any suggestions?

I have one of those motors that i tried to run today. Carb needles set about 5/8ths each. This motor is also giving me trouble. I am thinking about replacing the condenser. One thing i have learned is that the high speed knob needs to be opened up more when the engine is cold.
