Sounds like a neat outboard. Seen one one Youtube but
it was crowned as a 1927 model….. they must have
made them for a while?
Too bad he doesn’t know a picture is worth a thousand
words 🙁

November 29, 2015 at 7:20 pm #27818No the k-35 was first made in 1927the guy selling it is wrong, Johnson started labeling their Motors with numbers starting in 1925 number 25 after letter indicating the model, and every year after that They added five to the number , a good example is A25 1925, P-30 1926, A-35,P-35,K-35 we’re all made in 1927, PR-40 1928, 1929 S-45,V-45 etc, The last year of them using that system was 1936 P-80 became the PO 37 1937 😉 at least I think that’s right

right, good explanation !
but in the years 1931 1932 there was a mix with all kind of model figures
why was that ?
bad sales of a couple models ?
just curious 😎
.November 29, 2015 at 8:39 pm #278231931 and 32 was the heart of the depression and Johnson was throwing any kind of mud at the wall to see if they could to get it to stick, meaning they were trying to do anything they could to sell motors unfortunately for them it was too little too late and they were bought out by OMC in 1935 😉

For instance – There’s no such motor as an A-30, the A-25 was sold in both 1925 and ’26. Nor is there an A-40, as the A-35 covered 1927-28.
it was only starting with the 1929 model year that Johnson advanced the model number by "5" on the "A" twins, with the A-45 being the last opposed cylinder "A" that was built. In 1930 the A-50 was brought out as an alternate firing twin, and the "OA" series was introduced as the smallest opposed twin motor in Johnson’s line-up.
Hope this helps.
best,
