Why did Bendix quit making outboards?
I always enjoyed their Bendix brakes on my first bicycle
that left rubber on the tar!

Another fine product by the Bendix Aviation Corporation.
I ran it about twenty seconds on the bench last December after
going through the motor. Today was the first time in the barrel
      to tune it up.
When both side covers open it looks like a bat flying.

You can see that I was hesitant shutting the side cover while it was running……
didn’t feel like shock treatment today!

Did a little tuning after the first video, and I think it’s
ready for a boat test soon.

Looks like you have a nice specimen there Tom. Looking forward to the boat trials. The first mechanism to engage the starter with the flywheel was manufactured by Bendix.
Starter drives are still called the Bendix by many today. Tubs

Did anyone else see one of these on the lake today?
Weatherman lied….. was almost twice as windy
on the lake as it was written this morning, but
the Bendix performed better than me!

One grill housing bolt loosened up, so had to tighten that
          up on the go.

Looks like it could have been twice as fast as you thought it would be and it wasn’t the wind after all!!! It seems to run very well. Now I want one. Thanks a lot. Tubs

Bendix Aviation was primarily involved in aviation related products such as magnetos and carburetors. Outboard motors were a very small business, After war Bendix made magnetos for small engines and outboards,
