I picked up a 1940-41 Zephyr that doesn’t have a recoil but does have the tank with the 3 mounting holes. It does has a rope shieve bolted on the flywheel. Does anyone have a pic of what the recoil happens to look like? I’m getting conflicting info.

Not my motor, just an old photo from Ebay, on a model 4362.

My 1940 Zephyr but I think it has a later, more rounded, starter on it.

I’m wondering if I may have an oddball motor here. It has a 4359/03446 model/serial#, has the metal front knob and a tank with the recoil bolt hole on the outer part of the tank. Bucs pic shows a what appears to be a round recoil with more inner recoil holes and Mumbles pic shows more what I think my tank has…with what I think might have the recoil having wings that go around the gas cap. Am I kinda going in the right direction here? Posted a pic of my motor plus a pic of my early 40’s 3.3 Sportwin with the teardrop type tank I believe my motor is supposed to have. Does anyone have any model # breakdowns on what model had what on the different Evinrudes? Thanks for the replies guys!!
