I picked this motor up for $50 although im not necessarily into outboards as much as just antique things lol Wondering if its worth restoring or selling? I am a mechanic and could restore it. the tag says 4362 and 00029M if you can shed any other light on it I would appreciate it

The Zephyr isn’t the easiest motor to get running tricky carb. The front cover is cut open and needs replacing. $50 was about the right price. Its easy to spend more than its worth restoring. This is not a rare engine.

I just like the art deco look of it. It is surprisingly light too. I imagine the aluminum body of it could be polished up nice and make a cool show piece and not bother with the mechanics of it? I havn’t decided. I also found a guy online selling the replacement decals for it

I love the way it looks also. I wouldn’t change a thing except the cover on the carb. Not a rare engine also means lots of cheap parts available. I might have a cover that fits, where are you located???

I am in Salem Oregon. I’m not sure I’m seeing what cover you guys are talking about that’s been cut? Do you mean there should be more covering around the bottom of the head?

IS this the front part of the cover your talking about? There is the knob sticking out here so I don’t see how the cover could be more closed?

or did the knob just protrude thru a hole originally?

Yup, your front cover has been customized for some reason.
