I love the way it looks also. I wouldn’t change a thing except the cover on the carb. Not a rare engine also means lots of cheap parts available. I might have a cover that fits, where are you located???

Let me know if you have a proper cover and how much you want for it to ship to Salem, OR 97302. I would appreciate it

They can turn great ! πŸ™‚

Just curious how many hours do you have into that 4416 to get it to that point? I have mine in perfect running original condition they are good runners.

I don’t have the front cover but do have some other misc spare parts for one if you decide to make it run again. I am just about finished with mine (cleaned original condition but running). They are surprisingly under powered and complicated for what they are but still very cool motors in my opinion. Most people either love them or hate them with very few people in between. They are kind of loud as well but have a very unique sound at idle with it being a 4 banger. I have loved working on mine and now am considering a lightfour (zephyr’s big brother at 9.7hp) for my next project.

From what I am hearing and reading online I don’t think I’ll bother making it run again, BUT

I have salt water aquariums and I’m currently setting up a large 8 foot 400 gallon saltwater tank that I think this will make nice dΓ©cor in the room if I tear it apart, clean it and polish it up to a chrome shine. It will look awesome next to the tank

An insane number of hours πŸ™‚
In fact, it’s not even mine, it belongs to a friend who has a 35" boat, so this is for the small boat, home made in wood.

I spend almost a whole winter working on it, filling/sanding all done by hand, since I only have a small bench grinder for the final step with compound.
So .. How many hours ?

It was in a decent shape, complete and only some minor dents on the tank :

Exhaust port had casting defects so needed a little job with a Dremel.

57Buick, I just checked and the front cover that I have is for a later model Zephyr, mine has a primer button, your primer is on the Knob. You could have mine for the shipping but the right one is out there somewhere. If you need any parts, I have a parts motor that will not see water again.

That is some amazing work! When ever you want to do another one you just let me know lol. Here are some before and after shots of mine.

And so I don’t completely hijack this thread here is my zephyr when I first got it to run

and what it looked like when I got it

I should have the last parts for it here within the week so that I can get it all wrapped up.

SO I am starting the process of taking pics of every little part and tearing it down. So the nut on top for the pull start. How do I get that off the shaft?? Is it reverse thread or anything?

This one? It’s just a standard right hand thread. Righty tighty, lefty loosy.

If you mean the flywheel nut, you will need a strap wrench to hold the flywheel while you remove it and torque it down.
