I’m with 57 on this one I wish you were closer!
quote 57buick:So I bought this thing at an estate sale last week of a guy that was obviously very clean and organized, his garage was pristine and parts organized and labeled. Tearing this motor apart and seeing how clean the coils and the carb are maybe he already went thru it mechanically?Coils and points look good but the only real way to tell is to run a spark test with an inline tester. The spark plug wires have been replaced at some point for sure though. The ignition system usually isn’t the headache part of these motors it is the complicated carb. Pull that carb off and open up the bowl and see how varished it is that will tell you more than anything. If he ran it dry then you may be able to just put some fuel in it (16:1) and fire her up. How did the inside of the tank look? That was the problem with mine for a long time is it kept sucking gunk out of the tank even after repeated cleanings and clogging up the low speed orifice. You may have a good little runner there without much work! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

November 4, 2016 at 12:13 am #46963Well everything is torn apart. Dropped off a few pieces at the polishers. Hope I can easily remember how it all goes back together LOL I have the exploded parts diagram now but that is pretty small print and convoluted but we will see
