As some one who use to do it that way I have a clear understating
of the time, the mess, and the aggravation of continually having to
waiting for the grinder/buffer to speed back up. Your interest in
getting more motors to do would indicate you really enjoy doing it.
You got to be one sick bassssssboat!!!!! 😉A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
November 4, 2016 at 4:20 am #46976I don’t even have a boat ! 🙂
I just like old engines. I’d prefer bike engines from the 20’s and 30’s, but they are difficult to find in Canada 🙁That’s the main reason why I play with outboard. But if I find a vintage lawnmower, it will do the job also 🙂
November 4, 2016 at 12:42 pm #46989I’d be curious how much this is going to end up costing you in the long run to have it all polished up. Also if you have any problems getting it back together just ask and we can walk you through it, its not that complicated.

I dropped parts at the polishers but they said it would take a few weeks to get to it. Quoted me somewhere around $400 for all of it. I know that’s more than the motor is worth probably but it will look so good next to my 400 gallon saltwater tank in the living room LOL

Curious to see the difference between a professional job and mine 🙂November 8, 2016 at 1:48 pm #47165Hello,
So I just found this thread and I am also redoing my zypher. When I took it apart I zip tied the three tiny springs that that go in the pawl with a red zip tie and put them with my upper parts section on my work bench………..and still lost them. 😥 anyone have some laying around?
Thank
Aaron

Curious to see the difference between a professional job and mine 🙂I can’t wait to see it either. I love the look of these motors as well.
November 14, 2016 at 7:30 am #47435I put all the bolts and screws from different sections into zip lock bags and labeled them including the springs.
I am anxious for the polish job too but the shop said they are about 8 weeks out on jobs right now but the parts are there. It will be a wait
November 15, 2016 at 12:34 pm #47509November 28, 2016 at 8:53 pm #48142Got a few pieces back from the polisher. I told him I knew there would be defects in the metal etc that I wasn’t gonna go to the extent of fixing all the flaws. So there a couple dings and pits in the metal here and there. Its ok for display though. Now to start figuring out how to get things back together.
First step will be fighting that damn recoil spring back into the top lol
