I might buy a 1940 Champion Model B1F for cheap $$.  It’s pretty rough so wondering how difficult to get parts, parts diagram etc if I want to try and get this thing running?

      Thanks

I believe you may still find a replacement ignition coil and condenser if needed, and a Tillotson carburetor overhaul kit is available at Discount Marine Parts.

Would that be a D1F instead of B1F?
I don’t see the later in the list.

The B1F is the Blue Streak single (hard to read, but listed 3rd line item below the D1F Challenger single on the Champion list).

So I bought it.  Don’t see any model number to verify but don’t know where to look.
Good news.  It has spark and compression

bad news it’s missing the tiller, starter coil part that the rope gets wrapped around and seems like the lever to increase speed and kill motor should have some linkage to the carb but there is nothing

so hard to find diagrams showing this stuff for this motor.
I see a lot of parts that say Blue Ribbon instead of Blue Streak.  Is the rope coil part suppose to have markings ?

I won’t need a tiller until I get it running but proper parts for the rope coil thing and the throttle linkage would be good.

              Any help is appreciated

This is a carb off of a 1940 single cylinder Champion Kingfisher, 3.2 hp.
It may be the same as yours. There’s a long nut with an arm attached to
the carb. The arm rides on a cam on the mag plate which operates the
                throttle.

I assume your rope pulley would look like this……

This is what the tiller arm looks like on my Kingfisher……

Thanks.  This helps a lot. I think it’s same tiller and probably same coil/rope part but throttle may be different.  Here are pics of mine. Small (maybe threaded) hole on a lever. 3E68BF54-E14C-426F-A109-F60F9E8CD7A9

Some early outboards had no syncronation between the spark advance and
the carb throttle. You just have to move the throttle and spark advance separately.
                    I have a 1938 Champion D1D that works that way……..

Interesting.  I’ll get it running and see how that works out. Really is frustrating not being able to find documentation on this motor

Your carb should be stamped AJ2A which is used on the B1F (Blue streak Single), and S1G, D1G, 1H models.  It should have the horizontal “Synchronous Control Arm” part number 1F121 on the “Synchronous Control Shaft” part number 1F114 (post) for synchronous operation when the mag lever is moved.  The arm & post are shown in Buccaneers photo on his MS111A carb.  This spring loaded horizontal carb lever arm is operated by a metal cam002-1

piece on the bottom of the mag plate. Indicated on the cover and in the parts catalog pics. (post, arm, nut, lock washer, Synchronous Control Cam for mag plate pn 1F140).

Model B1F should be stamped on the front edge near the bottom of the crankcase.
