Hi. I have a TD-20 serial #61359. I assumed it was a 1946 but when I compare it to the Johnson signage logo’s and the ‘starting/oiling logo, it compares to the 1941. I also assume it is a 5hp. I have had it for many years and it does turn over and am hoping to get it up and running if possible but will probably need correct info before I start researching replacement parts. Even if I cannot get it working again, I think it will be a fun project and learning experience. Thank you for any advice anyone may have.
January 28, 2021 at 3:59 pm #228979If it’s in fact a TD-20, that motor was produced from 1946 thru 49. The serial number you reported seems to be missing a digit. If it were number 561359 0r 613590 thru 613599 it would be a 1947 year model. And yes, it would be 5hp.

January 28, 2021 at 5:55 pm #228982Hi Bob. Thank you for such a quick response. I don’t know if serial numbers in Canada fall in to the same category. 61359 is what is on the tag then TD-20. Not sure how to post picture to show you. Same with the logo that says starting/ oil. It is more rounded like the 1941 logo that was posted.

January 28, 2021 at 6:31 pm #228996You will definitely need new Leather Primer Seals and diagrams with instructions on how to replace them. Send $10.00 cash (no checks or money orders) and a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to me; Lloyd Lautner 9289 North Long Lake Road Traverse City Michigan 49685. More good info at: pochefamily.org/outboard (except the price for primer seals shown there is from over ten years ago).

January 28, 2021 at 6:45 pm #228997Indeed, Canadian motors have different serial numbers. I used to have a list, but lost it in a computer crash.

January 28, 2021 at 6:51 pm #228998Thank you Frankr. I will keep searching maybe call a marina. I also have a 61 seahorse 75 hp which we are looking forward to try and get it running. Fun projects even if we can’t get anywhere. Still fun to see how far we can get with them.
January 28, 2021 at 7:56 pm #228999OK, did not think about the fact this could have been a Canadian model. Canadian serial number 61359 would be a 1947 model.
