My lower unit was seized up. Got it apart today to see what was salvagable. The prop shaft gear is toast as well as the thrust bearing(?). Would anyone have parts or maybe a good lower unit? Also, how do you get the gear off the lower driveshaft?

Is this the heavy duty lower unit with the large pusher prop? I have an extra one of those I could part with for $30, plus shipping. This would be without the prop.

I can’t figure out how to send private messages on this new board. You are going to have to ring me up on the telephone, so I can send it to you. Roger Melugin, 270-744-3838, no cell phone or answering machine.

Thanks for the heads-up Tubs. I get an “access restricted” on the PM after I again log in. I would like to go back to using mail, with stamps.

Once you get the rear housing cap and prop shaft off, you will see the cotter pin in the driveshaft under the pinion gear. . .
