I got this motor started this morning after the coil swap,
      but it’s not pumping water.

The”379″ prefix before the serial number seems to say
that it’s based on the Evinrude 3.3 hp between 1941-47,
but from what I can find out, those had the double, metal
vane impellers. The subject Sea King has a piston pump,
and a strange one at that.
I can’t find anything in the early Evinrude manual showing a
piston pump period, and I have no Sea King manual for the
      model number stated.

There’s a suction check ball, but I find no discharge check ball,
or a place that looks like one may go.
Do any “piston pump” outboards “not” use a discharge check ball?

Anyone have a Sea King parts manual for the stated model number?

A brass plug is removed from this hole, which
I’m calling the discharge galley. At first I thought
I was seeing a “wire stop” for a check ball,
but upon further inspection, it appears to be some
casting slag. I see nothing on the discharge side
of the pump that looks like a seat where a check ball
        might be contained. Confused!
