      David, thanks once again for your assistance. It was a nice surprise too of John Van to offer his help with the tiller lock collar parts. Your lock collar parts are in mint condition, whereas mine, after I gave them a clean up with the wire brush on my grinder, are very pitted so it will be interesting to see how we get on with his parts.

      Talking of Scott Atwater spare parts, has reminded me that I have a selection of drive shafts and a couple of gear boxes. I think they are for single cylinder motors that I picked up from the local agent when they were dumping old stock in the early 1970s. Unfortunately there are no part numbers on the shafts. Some of them seem to be made up of four sections with an aluminium tube holding the bits together and some have a square drive.They are of no use to me and I am at a loss as what to do with them.

            Old post, but glad I found it. I was wondering what a Scott Model 467 3.6 hp
            motor is suppose to look like. I’m going through several early Scott made 3.6 hp
            motors, mostly Firestone labeled, and when I got to this Scott 467 parts motor,
            I noticed there was a lot of differences to it’s Firestone brother.
            I’m missing the gas tank and cowlings. My goal for now is to just make it a
            “running” parts motor.

              That was a surprise seeing those old posts of mine and Cajuncook 1 pop up!
              I have a spare transfer that I could email you and would you believe that I have a spare tank,
              but I would imagine the cost of sending you a tank would be prohibitive!

                Monte, I have seven of these 3.6 Scott made motors. I’m just going
                through the five that aren’t froze up, and probably will only keep one.
                None I plan on spending much money on. The last one I splurged for
                a new capacitor and fresh grease in the lower unit. The gas tank sealer
                I have on order will be more than the motor is worth, lol.
                Just fun to see how many of them I can get running.
                Maybe I can find some cheap little plastic mower gas tanks to adapt!

                  Hey Buc –

                  Scott sold two models in 1946, under the Scott Atwater brand. They were models 461 and 467. As far as I know, the only significant difference between the two was that the model 467 had a recoil starter. As you have seen, the Scotts and Firestones have different legs, lower units, water pumps and transom clamps. The shape of the fuel tanks was also significantly different between the two.

                  Scott sold four different models under the Firestone badge: models 460, 462, 463 and 464. Only the 464 had a recoil starter. Based on some pictures that I have seen, I believe that the models 463 and 464 had the newer gearbox and water pump, similar to your 467. The 460 and 462 had an older style gearbox and iron impeller that were left over from the pre-war Champions.

                  Makes me curious what models 465 and 466 were. Perhaps they planned to release the 7.5 hp in 1946. Or maybe they developed a couple more badge motors for another retailer.
