August 27, 2015 at 1:13 am #22741You can try Doug Penn. He sells used parts for these old motors.
Doug is a real good guy and He will go out of His way to help.
I just noticed on His web site that He’s on vacation.
Here’s a link to His web site; http://penn.itgo.com/Steve A W

I live in Northwest IndianaAugust 28, 2015 at 12:08 pm #22814Gary: re "the motor is most safely stored with the speed control in the stop position"
by "speed control", are you referring to the needle valve position or the spark advance?
August 28, 2015 at 12:23 pm #22816I was going to start my own thread, but I’ll piggyback on this one if nobody minds.
Ran my 4423-04947 yesterday – ran like a champ
But…..
a few questions for the peanut gallery
1. the filler plug/filler plug seal/plug locking lever system leaks when the motor is off the boat and lying on the dock
a lot
anybody got any ideas?
2. the carb leaks gas when the motor is tipped forward, even with the fuel valve shut off and the needle valve all the way over to "off" – is this to be expected, or do I have a leak to chase?
3. iirc, mine has two spidery looking impellers in the water pump – I’ll take a look at them later today – they were working great yesterday, but are almost seventy years old – is anybody making replacements for them?
4. I have a fuel shutoff valve with thumbscrew just below the tank, as referenced in the S&O instructions. I have another fuel shutoff valve at the other end of the fuel line, attached to the base of the carb – no thumbscrew, just a slot for a screwdriver. Why two?
August 28, 2015 at 3:33 pm #22829About the filler plug leak, all the plugs I have seen have shrunk over the years and don’t fit the tank grommet very well. To get around this, I made new plugs for my 4423 and 4425 motors out of black Acetal (Delrin). They now fit snug with the spring retainer holding them in place and don’t leak anymore.
August 30, 2015 at 10:20 pm #22942Are you going to have these replacement 202074 filler plugs available for other 3.3 horse alternate firing Sportwin restorers?
