I’m trying to get the prop shaft and cartridge out of this weedless
      style lower unit subject motor.

I found, and removed the screw that’s labeled as
“Prop Shaft Bearing Housing Locking Screw”
      then attached a slide hammer.
After ample hammering, the cartridge has not moved.
I thought it best at this point to ask for sage advice before
I break something. Am I missing something?
      Thanks.

That is the set screw which holds everything together so it should come apart. It might be time to get the torch out to try and loosen up the bearing housing.  The large O ring on the housing  might have some corrosion behind it holding it in.

Thanks Mumbles. I just started up the furnace in the garage,
and will heat me up with some coffee, then go throw some
heat on the Evinrude. I glanced at the lower unit while
in the garage, and it didn’t magically come apart during the
          night….. bummer.

Just a “follow up” on my bearing cartridge removal dilemma, “It’s Out”.
The heat worked, but the cartridge still put up a good fight.
My slide hammer “cartridge puller” special didn’t even break to my
surprise, so in the outboard tool box it goes.

Check the bearing housing carefully once you get it cleaned up as they like to crack or break for some reason.

                Hi Buc and Mumbles
Well done Buc getting it appart, but I thought that oil was specified for the gearbox……that looks like grease to me!?
I have the same model and tried to dismantle the gearbox about 40years back, but didnt have a puller then, so mabey I should give it another try, after seeing your success and thanks
Mumbles for mentioning about the bearing housing.

                Cheers

It’s all cleaned up and painted now. I did not see any cracks luckily!

Monte, I sent you a PM about the Owner’s Manual. Perhaps it tells in there
about the gear case lube…… guess I’m not 100% sure.
There’s a ball bearing under the drive shaft seal. Mine rotates
freely, so I’m guessing it good. I’m not pulling the seal out
until I have a new one in hand.
