      Might be looking at an elto 1949 sportster which barely runs ( current owner ). What are the pit falls on working on these units. I am hoping to pay $50 or less and have not looked at it yet. What should I pay attention to?

        Made by the Gale Products division of OMC. They were also built as Sea Kings, Seabees, Brooklures, Hiawathas, and Royals. Gale model 2-7 (2A7, 2B7, 2D7, 2H7, 2S7, 2W7, depending on trim and color) Dependable outboards if properly maintained. The water pump is behind the propeller. weak spot is in the gearcase seals. Thousands made – Used parts are readily available.
