Thanks Stan I’ll keep that in mind, right now I’m making my own out of some leftover FelPro I have. Are the ones you have new? Also I found a pretty big manual here for Gales –> https://richardlpaquette.ca/GaleProduct … Manual.pdf – Powerhead should be here Tuesday (Thanks Frank) I’ll post more progress pictures if anyone’s interested.

When you mount that powerhead, keep in mind that there are two gaskets, and one is thicker than the other one. Also, I destroyed the intake manifold gasket. I included the manifold but had to remove it to get it into the box. I didn’t remove the reed plate though.

Alright im getting closer, came home to a box on my porch. put about 4 hours into her today. Checked impeller and cleaned a lot. Also applied grease, grease, and more grease. Everything is moving smooth now. Cut out gaskets and mounted new powerhead. Now im in the middle of playing musicle motors and moving all the parts over to the new head. Wondering if the typical felpro gaskets will hold up for this use. Put oil in it to let it soak and see if it would move, turned prop and success! Both pistons move! Glad i have all these extra parts just in case. Just a few questions- should i run 24:1 50:1? And what should compression be around? Ill post more when i get to work on it thursday. I can almost smell the two stroke 🙂

Got out of class early and had a few hours to put in. Almost all back together, spark is good, and the only thing i cant find is the spring for the shifting mechanism but thats an easy replacement. Need to get a new flywheel bolt tomorrow and then its time for some rpms. Stay tuned.

Anyone have any suggestions on fuel/oil mix?

                  Thanks,

I’m saying 24:1 on this one.

Absolutely no leaner than 24:1. In fact, the original owner’s manual probably said 16:1.

Shes alive!!! Put everything together and within about 15 pulls it started. I have to adjust the carb becuse it keeps stalling on the shift, stop, and slow setting but itll start every pull now. Running 24:1 and will probably throw some seafoam in it later on. Anyone know how to post a video on here? Super excited to finish the boat and see what 50’s engineering has to offer.
