Metal case pres in seals can be cross referenced by the seal number
if known OR the shaft, outside diameter and height of seal
can be measured, Seals for a specific shaft diameter are grouped
together in a seal catalog. A general purpose seal or seals are printed
in bold…least costly and usually in stock.
Bearing or industrial supply firms often will give away non current
catalogs to free.
Very likely the designer consulted a similar catalog to select OEM
seals and bearings. I found NAPA store could cross reference their
catalog to find seal. On Line resources may exist. If you know the
seal makers seal part # or measurements the rest is easy.
Be Aware that standard seals are least expensive,,,up grades can
bring on sticker shock. Same is true for bearings.

Seal and bearing catalog are useful tools if you work on machinery
of any type that involves seal and/or bearing. Another very useful
item is a screw identification gauge…this handy tool will save a
lot of guess work in choosing a correct replacement for a no
longer usable fastener. Be Aware that threaded fasteners are
still not made to one universal standard nearly 3 centuries
after the Industrial Revolution.
