Frank, In looking at it again, and "playing" with it, I concur that it’s set up correctly,
but it was a little out of adjustment.
I ran it for a little bit 1/2 hour before I took the video, and it idled
a lot slower. Determined this morning that the throttle butterfly was not shutting
all the way, and suppose that one of the trunions slipped a little.
I now have it so it works smooth, and goes fully open and closed. Have
not run it yet, as it was raining. Peeks of sun coming out, so maybe later today.
Anyway, from what you said about the "intent" of the setup, etc., and
from me playing with it, I believe it’s working correctly now, and note that……At Full spark advance on the mag plate, there is full throttle control, from
idle to fast on the twist grip. As the spark advance is reduced, the setup
limits the throttle opening, which make sense.Interesting answers so far on the trivia question!

Buc, I have a 1951 Seaking(Gale) 12hp — model 12D10 with a twist grip that got a few years back. Picked it up in rough shape, but compression was good and got it started. Started to do a cosmetic restore but life got in the way and interest in it fell to way side. Put it in storage. I have pictures of it when I first go it. Sorry there are a lot of cobwebs on it….lol. But there is a picture of the connector to the carburetor from the twist throttle. I don’t know if this will help, but I’ll put it anyway.
Cajun, Thanks for the photos and diagram.
I see that your fuel tank petcock is to the front of the tank.
All three of mine were to the back.
I was also glad to see what the side cowling looks like, as
I’m missing mine on all three. Although I did have two spark plug
covers, an one front cover from the non shift motor.
Your cowls and front cover appear to be "one".Prepare to be boarded!

Garry, are you describing some kind of mechanical governor with
weights as the RPM controller, attached to the starter / generator?

September 4, 2018 at 10:11 pm #82292Finally got around to re-testing the Sea Bee after
tinkering around with the throttle and mag linkage this morning.
The throttle shuts all the way now, and it idles down
real nice. After the video, I had it idling down quite
a bit slower. Hope to get it on the lake next weekend
to give it a whirl.
I took the rewind off to inspect as it "rattled" yesterday.
Motor sounds a like nicer now!
The rope plate has some play where you can rock it some.
Will have to tear it apart and see if it’s curable.Prepare to be boarded!

Go deaf, maybe. Um, perhaps that is why I can’t hear anything. Have to wear headphones to listen to the TV, and haven’t heard a mockingbird sing for years.

ear ringing. I worked in a noisy power plant for thirty years, and even
though I wore ear plugs all thirty years, I didn’t escape Scot Free.
I swear that rewind rattling was adding another 30 decibels !Prepare to be boarded!
