As promised, here comes a few pics of my HD-26.
Ignore the butt-ugly engine stand.. One just has two use what is found around the house. I’m going to build me a proper engine stand real soon.

More pics can be found here:

I like it! Especially the "butt ugly stand". Nothing wrong with using what you have. That leaves more cash to spend on motors.

I’ve never seen anyone repair a recoil spring like that. THAT’S determination!
And I think you need a new tiller grip. Someone here makes replacements with the spring. I just can’t remember who.

I purchased the grip for my TN 28 from Peter McDowell. http://www.nymarine.ca

The primer, which is activated by pushing down on the dial on the starboard (right) side of the motor, contains leather seals which will need to be replaced. Lloyd Lautner vends these at a reasonable price. They go in the chamber on the left side of the carb in your 4th picture. Also, this website will tell you just about everything you need to know about these motors: http://www.pochefamily.org/outboard/

                    Thanks man, I appreciate it!

And to all you other too, thanks for your inputs! Gonna try to find me a correct tiller grip.
