I got ahold of the exact same carb. It has the hole open where the gas pours out of. So I am sure that it should be open. I have the new one in the ultrasonic being cleaned. Taking it apart, one difference is that it has the carb gasket 344037. That doesn’t show up in the part listing.
So, the plan is to put the ‘new’ cleaned carb on and see what happens. I am planning on putting the carb gasket on when I reassemble the carb.

that will likely eliminate the problem but it won’t solve the mystery of the overflowing card…

we need solutions for those mysteries to increase our collective knowledge 🙂

I agree. Once I know that the motor runs, I plan on going back and try and figure out what the problem is. It’s just frustrating living in the north and not having my test tank full of the liquid type water instead of frozen water. My nearest indoor tank is 10 miles away. I only get there once a week.
By the way, I double checked the float and it was put in properly. Not the greatest of shapes but I had super glued it.

have you done a blow test ?? air should not enter the carb bowl (body) when flipped upside down ….if the float and inlet needle are doing their job properly

with the carb right side up… air should enter the carb bowl (body) if you blow in the inlet

Yes I did. I had a frustrating experience a few years ago and heard of this test. I do it religiously now.

so… why does the carb overflow….if the float is working on a blow test

is the incoming gas coming in over pressurized to overcome the inlet needle’s function ???

does the float float by itself or… sink ?

you glued it up but was it fuelogged or …….dry as a bone before applying the sealant

have you tried a new float ???

I have a new float to try. I have it in the replacement carb. Once I know that the motor runs, I plan to pull that carb and attempt to figure out why the original one didn’t work. But because of that dreaded winter, it’s a week between thro it in an indoor test tank. Come on spring!

Yeah!!! It fired up! Original carb. Replaced the float with a new one. Put in the center high speed gasket. It didn’t have one in when I first took apart. Doesn’t pour gasoline anymore.
But it did not pump water so time for an impeller.
                  Thanks everyone for your input!

Great news! Glad to hear it fired up. Hopefully when you change the impeller you can account for all of the old one. This is what you hope you don’t find inside the water pump. There were a few chunks that escaped amd plugged up the works on this one. Those are no fun to dig out.
