I was able to get the motor to lift up and pivot so I could get underneath and get to the screws to take the powerhead off. Before I did that, I decided to take the exhaust cover off based on the progression Ben was showing on his YouTube video when he did his 55 Johnson OB. When I took those screws out the one closest to the powerhead broke off leaving about 1/2 inch of threads hanging out of the hole. I will probably take some penetrating oil and spray in there and let it work itself through. At least I have something to grab onto when I try to get the rest of it out I just hope it doesnt break off in the hole. Then I will have a real mess on my hands.

OK, you are learning your first lesson here….Patience is key when removing fasteners on outboards, they seize up even when used in just fresh water…Penetrating oil probably won’t help much, you are fortunate that the screw broke off that way so you can grab it with a good pair of vice grips…Use a good pair so it won’t just spin on the broken stud. Use a propane torch to warm up the stud and surrounding casting slowly. Once the stud is heated up, try rocking the stud gently in and out very slightly. Rock it back and forth just a bit more with each attempt until you feel it is loose enough to come out without breaking….
If the stud won’t budge after heating, don’t force it…Try some more heat and repeat the process….
Patience is key when removing stubborn fasteners…Force it, you will snap it off…. You want to avoid drilling out broken fasteners at all costs…Trying to drill through the hard SS screw without messing up the aluminum casting is very difficult indeed…
