The sides inside were the same gray as outside until you get to the floor. The floor was a light, flat, olive drab with non-skid sand in the paint. Below is a photo showing the inside of my 1957 Crestliner with original paint on sides and floor. Colors for 1956 would be the same. You get earlier than that, the sides were bare aluminum.
The decks had a 3/4 inch border of bare aluminum – (not correct in the photo below), and the strip up the middle of the deck was also bare.
A red color I like that was very close to original was 1970 Corvette Monza Red. I don’t have a color for the gray or the floor. Last one I did many years ago, I used a metallic gray that looked good, but I don’t remember what it was, and metallic was not original. Someone at the Crestliner site referenced below will have a color to recommend. Most automotive paint suppliers can mix any car color going back into the 1950s.
This site can mix up any automotive color going way back and put it in small bottles, spray cans, quarts or gallons: https://www.automotivetouchup.com/
There is a good Crestliner restoration website with a good message board like this one at:
