I have a 1956 Gale Buccaneer 25 hp 22D11B that belonged to my grandfather. Last summer I brought it home to MN from AL in the back of the minivan on our family vacation (wife was thrilled). I did all the usual coils, condensers, carb kit, impeller, and gearcase reseal. It runs great now. The problem is that at some point it was painted blue with a brush and house paint. I am trying to figure out what the proper color scheme would have been. I have had some similar vintage smaller Gale motors that were brown, and some green/white, and some all greenish blue. Not a lot of info online that is year specific that I could find. I would love to get this restored to original.

That is gorgeous! Ok, so I see on the reprotint site they offer a brown/bronze. What is the accent color? Its hard to tell in the photos, but it looks like a light green.

BTW, the 1956 was a beautiful metallic bronze / brown, whatever you want to call it. 1954-55 was not a metallic paint.
