Took the carb apart today, and I’m wondering about the bowl drain.
It has a spring loaded valve pin that protrudes through the front
of the bowl, and when the high speed adjustment knob is pushed
in, it allows the bowl to drain out the bottom of the bowl.

When I removed the parts, there was a chunk of deteriorated
rubber that came out, that makes me wonder if it had a rubber
      seat inside?
The parts diagram does not show any seat period, nor list in
in the parts, but perhaps it was considered part of the bowl?

I’m not sure I like the whole idea of the bowl drain. Sounds like
a good way to end up with a nagging leak!
I’m may just end up blocking the whole drain off is some fashion.
      Thoughts?

IIRC, I tapped and plugged that hole after many attempts to find a replacement for the seal.

Yep, I agree, nagging leak. I plugged a bunch of them back in “The Day”

Frank, sounds like a plan. If they were a problem “back in the day”,
then they’re still a problem. Suppose I can put a brass plug in
the front valve stem hole and a pipe plug in the bottom where
            the drain barbed fitting is.

In this photo, you can just make out a brass plug in the bottom. I must have tapped and plugged it like Tom suggested.

Mumbles, your carb looks a lot cleaner than mine….. it’s soaking in cleaner now though!
