Seriously, the former owner decided the way to stop his flywheel from wobbling after the hub broke out was to epoxy it in place!
July 27, 2020 at 8:29 pm #210080Man How could anyone think that was a fix
July 27, 2020 at 9:22 pm #210083A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
July 27, 2020 at 9:23 pm #210084They don’t make epoxy like they use to, lol

July 27, 2020 at 10:30 pm #210085Buccaneer…….Steven Instrument Company at one time actually manufactured a pressure gauge tester gadget specifically to deal with servicing pressure-tank style OMC Motors. I will look for a picture I once had ….
Also….don’t forget to have a look at the pressure valve assembly behind the reed plate…..
July 27, 2020 at 11:21 pm #210112SeaKaye12, Thanks for the information. I did not know about the Stevens test equipment
for “air” pressure.
I did have the crankcase pressure valve out to inspect and check passages for blockage.
Maybe I’ll rig up a gauge for fun some time and see what happens.

July 28, 2020 at 8:08 am #210128I have one of those pressure testers, should try it out someday….
July 28, 2020 at 8:12 am #210129Yes, I would start with loosening the cap after running for a few minutes. Yes, this is not an accurate test, but a place to start. Surely there is a problem somewhere if there is no pressure build up after a few minutes of running….

It seemed to run better as time went on, and toward the end I didn’t have
to manually pump gas to the carb. The fuel tank worked good on it’s
sister motor a week prior.
If I can find a cheap “non cracked” flywheel it will get a lake test and further tuning.
I already fixed up a 57 Big Twin for myself, but with electric start, so was going
to try to sell this one to make room. Just don’t plan on buying a $100 flywheel
so I can sell it at a greater loss, lol. I have almost enough left-over parts to make
one more Big Twin, so will probably save those parts for spares.Prepare to be boarded!
July 28, 2020 at 4:07 pm #210171Are you looking manual start or electric start flywheel????
I have a manual start flywheel from a 1955 25 hp RD-17??
Would that work?
