Had a question in regard to the hood strap that holds the hood/cowling in place when one opens the port side of the hood/cowling.  Is there a good source for these, I just recently purchased one on eBay only to have it crumble into several pieces during installation, it was NOS but probably like the motor 66 years old and brittle.   I have two of these outboards, both have what I’m guessing are the original straps, both are also broken, I’m guessing this is common.  Interesting to note my two 1958 Johnson 18hp hood straps are in great pliable condition.
