Did you see the actual ad or a digital image? Colors in a digital image are sometimes not true. Correct colors for that motor are polychromatic blue, charcoal gray and aqua white. That sure doesn’t look anything like polychromatic blue which is much lighter. I guess charcoal gray could look almost black in a magazine image or digital image.
December 29, 2019 at 12:41 pm #190190It was a digital image, but in other parts of the catalog the colors that I’m used to seeing were represented OK. The other thing that was unusual, was the Evinrude script in white on the top part of the cowl. For 57, I believe they were located on the white painted section.
Bob DDecember 29, 2019 at 12:49 pm #190191The colours are a little off, but it looks generally correct for an electric start Evinrude. The front of the cowl is cut away, which removes much of the white. I think that makes it look odd.

In the spot where Evinrude decal is on the manual start it has “electric starting”. (Clear as mud?) Check out my avatar

Thanks Garry. That explains why the 1955 Evinrude print ad has motors with blue props instead of dull aluminum color.
