      It should be OK then. It is a combination bushing and thrust washer and it takes all the forward thrust developed by the prop.

      When you reassemble the gearcase, tap the prop shaft forward to seat the thrust bearing before tightening the screws down completely.

        Glad you caught it before you got it all assembled…Surely didn’t want your rebuild to go south on you…Look for a new forward gear on ebay, I will have a look also….

            The upper ? forward gear has rounded edges on the teeth, it is not good enough condition to reuse. It should be replaced or you will be right back doing the job again.

              My rebuild has been delayed until Saturday or so when the new forward gear arrives.
