I am working with a 1959 Evinrude 18 HP. trying  to combine parts with a 1958 Evinrude 18 HP to make a runner.  I have a PL for the 1958 but does anyone have a PL for the 1959?  Mine is a  model 15028 (manual) but PL for the electric start motor would be fine. too.

      Thank You.

Not as handy as a printed copy but Marine Engine has it online.

Hmmm, just what parts are you combining?  Remember that the 58 models had no thermostat, the 59 models had a thermostat…  So, the crankcases are different, so are the cylinder heads.  I’m sure the pistons and crank are the same though…

Thanks Fleetwin, you are thinking about what I need to sort out.

To me the 1958 is good looking and I have the hood but the internals of my 1958 powerhead are a rusty mess.  I am now opening the 1959 powerhead hoping that the crankshaft/rods/ and piston assembly is ok.  If possible I would use the block of the 1959 and just mount it on the 1958 exhaust housing.  That may not work as the 1958 cover is supported by vibration mounts.  I think one of them is on on the 1958 head but not on the 1959 head.  I need to check that out.

If the 1959 crankshaft/rods/and piston assembly is ok I maybe can install them in the 1958 block  provided the cylinders are useable.  Probably I should lightly hone the cylinders and install new rings but I need to look this all over first..

Sounds like you have it right.  The internals will fit, but the crankcase/head is different.  The 58 does need the cover supports on its original head.  The intake manifold has cover supports also.  Yeah, just give the 58 cylinders a light hone, and use the 59 internals.
