      took the pull start assembly off over the winter to replace starter pawls. Put everything back together, and can’t get the pawls to lock into the flywheel when pulling. Any advice or diagram? Service manual doesn’t cover this.

        It would be a pretty safe bet that you made the same mistake that everybody else makes the first time they took one of those things apart.  The equalizer spring must be pre-assembled up on the ledge of the spindle before inserting spindle into the rope pulley.  If it jumps off, start over.
