I am thinking of adding a ’59 Sea Horse 3hp to my collection.
from what I see on the interweb, it is a JW-15 ??
I would be interested in seeing some photos of it if anyone has any.
also to know the length and weight of this motor.

        Weight is 33 lbs. From the ’59 brocure http://www.boatinfo.no/lib/evinrude/bro … 1.html#/10

If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.

            awesome !! thanks guys !!

but – isn’t it a little pretentious to state: "It has Angle-Matic Drive that lets you
drive right through shallows, over the stumps and logs without a care … Through
water that will defeat any other outboard" ???

does it jump over tall buildings and faster than a speeding bullet ??
good salesmanhship is all in the talk.

Anyways – I LIKE IT !! I will start looking for one to use as an auxillary kicker.

            Thanks again !

It will bounce up when hitting things, and it’s not moving as fast, with as much force as bigger HP motors, but, yes, you still can damage them, especially with rocks. Logs are more forgiving. That being said, at trolling speed, these will take an amazing amount of abuse, but, if you plan on using it that way, I recommend you take a lot of brass shear pins along.

Certainly one of the best fishing motors OMC ever made!

The weak point in the OMC three horse motors thru ’63 was in the exhaust tube right below the swivel clamps. They liked to snap off in this area quite easily. The ’64 and later models were beefed up with a different clamp design and exhaust tube.

I have 3 evinrude lightwins and they run like a top and are great little motors.

Really? Gee, you must have all the bad luck. I’ve never seen a broken one. At least it has two clampscrews.

Another weak point is the carry handle. Try to get a motor that
has a good handle. Their hard to find.
