Got the power head bolted back in the Fisherman and trying
to hook the fuel system back up with new hoses from
the fuel connector to filter, B&S style impulse pump, to
carb.
Was the original hose from the hose connector to the fuel
filter a "special" hose with two different size ends?
The connector takes 1/4" id hose, the fuel filter 3/6" id hose.
My impulse pump is happy with 1/4" id hose. The carb inlet
looks like it takes a 3/16" hose.
The heavy rubber 1/4" fuel hose wont squeeze
tight on the 3/16" barbs, nor will the 3/16" plastic fuel line
stretch over the 1/4" barbs…… don’t know that I can heat /
mold it enough to work or not.
Any creative ideas?Prepare to be boarded!
October 17, 2015 at 12:01 am #25636The routing is connector to pump….pump to filter….filter to carb.
So 1/4" from connector to fuel pump.
3/16" from fuel pump to filter housing, and….
I use 3/16 from the filter housing to the carb.
May need to hit the 3/16 going onto the fuel pump with the heat gun first. I think, and correct me if Im wrong, the original fuel pump had 2 different barbs, or no?

apart, and it was such a rat’s nest with crud (mouse hotel)
that I didn’t realize the circuit is to the fuel pump before the
filter. Would it work going to the filter first so as not to plug
up the fuel pump?
Yes, the original pump had two barbs, inlet and outlet, and
impulse was via the port in back directly to the crankcase.Prepare to be boarded!

October 17, 2015 at 12:39 pm #25652The mice pretty much pissed away any literature
that used to be under the hood of this outboard, lol.
Is flow into the center of the element then "out"?Prepare to be boarded!
October 17, 2015 at 4:38 pm #25657The IN and OUT are cast into it.
October 17, 2015 at 4:46 pm #25658I think I see an arrow pointing in on one connection,
so I’ll try that as "IN".
Fuel hoses all hook up now. Would have been simpler
for OMC to just put an inline fuel filter after the pump,
and a whole lot less hoses too!
Only had to make one hose connector / splicer to go
from 1/4" to 3/16" ID hose.
Took a 3/16" barb from the old carb, slid it inside
a piece of 1/4" OD brass tubing, and soldered it together.Prepare to be boarded!
