I’m looking at a used piston for sale from a 1955
Johnson 5.5 hp, part # 376067 as a replacement for
one in my 1960, 5520 Evinrude, piston #0376994.
The seller doesn’t know if it will work, and my
      research didn’t bring any joy.
Anybody know what the differences are?
      Thanks, Buccaneer

Any piston from ’54 to ’79 will work in your motor. The only difference in them is the later ones in the 70’s had two rings instead of three.

One nice thing about the OMC 5.5’s is that lots of parts are interchangeable thru the years. 😀

I absolutely LOVE your example. One of our members built one out of six parts motors, but he spoiled it by painting it only the two 1955 colors with decals to match.
          . . . . . . . . 😀

That motor looks like Steve Jobs designed it himself. Put an Apple logo on it and I bet everyone would want one.

That gives a whole new definition of: FRANKENRUDE 😀

Thanks Mumbles. I bought said piston. Now the race is
on to get it back together before my test barrel freezes up!
