Hello, i am new here, just signed up.

I bought a 1963 Evinrude 40hp Big Twin and it has an electric starter
but now starter cylinoid and wiring to hook up to the controls is missing.

Is there anyone that can help find a wireing harness or any information
    to get in running.

I have not had any success finding anything.

    The model # is 40353D
    Serial # is E01713

Thanks in advance to any help.

    Larry.

did you try the johnson red book at the url above the picture …. basic wiring layouts shown in theelectrical section … you can probably make your own harness if unable to find one

    Welcome, Larry

Well you might have to make a choice, look for a junction box and stuff to restore it back to original or hard-wire it. The original stuff is out there, but getting harder and harder to find. If you decide to go the hard-wire route, here is the wiring diagram

Something you should know—-That is not a car solenoid. They look exactly like a car (Ford) solenoid, but are different inside.

What part of the country are you located? I may have something you can use, need to discuss. Ed Elliott eddelliott@cox.net

AN exact replacement aftermarket solenoid is a Sierra Marine 18-5807 that can be bought at NAPA auto stores as their number SME 185807. Or online at a lot of places like iboats.com. Just run a search for 18-5807.
