This beloved member of family went swimming then was pulled out of water and left for a few days
We got her cleaned up and running like a champ but somehow the coil bolts loosened and broke free cannonballing the magneto plate and one coil around under flywheel.
we cannabalized an old 1957Johnson 18 FDL-13 coil and have good blue spark but can get her to get going again; I can sometimes get it to backfire and act like it want to start up but I haven’t gotten farther than that.
Can anybody tell me what gap the coils should have or any other possible solutions?
20 thousandths is not working
Thanks.
July 17, 2024 at 8:03 pm #289225coil gaps ?? or points gap ???
coils should line up on their mounting … fingernail should not snag up or down
points are .20 change or test capacitors ! test secondaries OHMS values 4-8kohms

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
