I have a 1979 Johnson 70, 3-cylinder engine.  I need to attach a new rubber motor cover seal (cowl gasket).  I have the new seal.  The old one was stapled on with some rather thick staples.  Is there some type of adhesive I can use?  Has anyone done this using either staples or adhesive?  Does anyone have a source for the staples?  Any ideas or hints are appreciated.

Goop works pretty good.   wipe away any excess

try openning the staples and reuse  them if they dont break
