I am working on a 2 hp model E2RCNE having trouble tuning always seems to be rich, no matter how I adjust. cleaned carb, changed out plug, starts, revs up but never to the rpm it should be and you can tell it is not smooth as it should be. any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

It can’t be an oversize hi speed orifice as your ’82 motor has a hi speed adjusting needle so it might be a missing or damaged nozzle gasket, #21, causing the uncontrollable richness. A float set too high can also cause issues.

I’ve also noticed that running those little motors in a barrel at full throttle can be deceiving… the turbulence of the water blasting back into the prop can cause it to sound like it won’t open up. It may be a possibility anyway.

            # 21 is missing, I did not even notice, very good job, will disassemble and try to find one that fits. Thank You!!!!

It’s P/N 344037 at your friendly OMC/BRP outboard dealer but should also be included in the 398532 carb kit for this motor.

I have one also and they do run wonky in a barrel if you open them up. They seem to be tricky to get running smooth compared to the smooth little OMC twins.
