40HP Scott Atwater 1957

I didn’t get a chance to pull the seal yet to get measurements helping with the spring cleaning today but I did manage to take a few pics of the water pump its a strange set-up. I wouldn’t have thought it had a bailamatic in this motor but it did. 2 different sized impellers one larger one for the engine and one smaller one for the bailamatic. They are consolidated in the pump assembly with the smaller above the larger. I thought some folks would find this set-up interesting. I have worked on the bailamatic 7.5hps but both impellers were the same size and right under power head. The impellers on this engine are in the lower foot.

That’s the McCulloch influence. Bet they got tired of hearing about the earlier PITA setup. I have a ’59 7.5 set up the same way.
