      Hi,

I begun a restoration of two 1957 Johnson Golden Javelin 35 Hp. I’m beginning with the hoods and I’ve got two pretty good candidates…. but I’ve got a couple of Qs:

      1. Which of the metal scripts were gold colored.. all???
      2. Were the scripts actually gold plated or painted gold?
      3. I’m in need to two replacement front emblems (the large ovals)… what years and/or horsepowers shared the same emblems?

      Thank you for your expertise.

The front plate scripts were gold and the cowl side Johnson and Javelin scripts were chrome. The cowl side “35” script was gold. I believe the gold scripts had a gold colored coating but not actual gold.

Not sure if the Javelin front emblems were exactly the same as the other 57 and 58 Johnson emblems.

Haven’t looked at it a long time but my files had a link to a Golden Javelin website that had some good information.

If you can’t find the original front oval medallions, North York Marine has the substitute decals that look good.
